Nena Wooderson joined Houston’s in November of 2020. She is a valued member of the Merchandising Team with a positive attitude, team-first mentality, and commitment to continued growth. For these attributes and more Nena has earned recognition as the Merchandising Employee of the Quarter for Q1 2023.
Nena works within the CHEF’STORE location in The Dalles, OR, and in the words of Merchandising Project Manager Bob Baldwin, she has been a standout team member this past quarter.
Under Nena’s watch, the store’s Houston’s sections are kept in impeccable order and condition. “Frank, the store manager, always has high praise for Nena every time I visit,” Bob said. “It’s like I didn’t even need to stop by because Nena takes such good care of us.”
In addition to maintaining eye-catching and well-organized sections, Nena also demonstrates the character of going above and beyond the normal call of duty. She opted to work on a scheduled day off in order to help hang tags for the CHEF’STORE system conversion with Merchandising Supervisor Kevin Wunneburger.
Her positive and helpful attitude has led to establishing a good rapport with CHEF’STORE management and employees. Perhaps there is no better illustration than CHEF’STORE including Nena is their recent holiday party.
“That says a lot to me about how valued Nena is to both Houston’s and CHEF’STORE,” Bob said.
It’s evident that Nena brings a level of focus and attention to detail in her work. “Nena always makes sure she keeps extra product on hand for those weekly espresso customers who buy cases of certain products,” Bob said.
She also displayed flexibility over the course of the quarter in adapting to a new ordering system and being willing to adjust her work schedule to serve the needs of the customers and the company. As many team members know, winter weather and the holidays may change or disrupt normal delivery schedules.
“Integrity is at the forefront as Nena always strives to do the right thing,” Bob said. “Her willingness to be flexible while maintaining a positive attitude makes her a pleasure to be around.”
