Julio Gutierrez started with Houston’s back in 2001. Through his nearly 22 years with the company, he has shown a strong work ethic, dedication, and an attitude of doing what needs to be done – even without being asked.
For his more recent contributions, he has earned recognition as Wilsonville Warehouse Employee of the Month for the month of January.
Julio’s work ethic has been on full display through a number of the Wilsonville building improvement projects over the past couple months. From disassembling and moving old cubicles, moving desks and office equipment, to removing the old pond at the front of the building, installing rock fill, and more, Julio’s impact has been immeasurable.
All of this work has been on top of his regular slate of duties, as well. It’s clear to see how Julio has earned the nickname “la Machina” – the Machine – and the trust of his colleagues.
When asked what Julio’s most valuable skill is, Maintenance Supervisor Phil Moullet couldn’t narrow it down to a single option.
“I can’t name just one,” Phil said. “So I’ll name three: Julio is a self-starter, he works well with others, and he’s willing to do anything – and everything – at any time.”
Julio’s 20+ years of experience with Houston’s have given him a strong sense of how things work through multiple departments. That knowledge, coupled with his versatile skillset, allows Julio to step in wherever needed – with or without needing to be directed.
“He takes every task that is given to him, and gives that task 100% effort,” said Greg Jones, Warehouse Manager. “And if he doesn’t have a task given to him, he’ll give himself a task, and put out the same effort.”
Outside of work, Julio enjoys trips to the coast and working on projects around the house.
Congratulations Julio, this recognition is well-deserved!
Runners up for the month include Jesus Ayala (First Runner Up) and Shane Putnam (Second Runner Up).
