Mia Smead, HTrans Operations Coordinator, joined Houston’s in December of 2007. Initially working within the Admin and Inside Sales Departments, Mia transitioned to a role with HTrans in May of 2021, and has established herself as a valued member of the HTrans team.
For her contributions over the past quarter, she has earned recognition as the Wilsonville Office Employee of the Quarter for Q1 2023.
Mia has developed a versatile skillset, and coordinates activities related to HTrans administration, personnel, maintenance, and operations. She is a strong point of contact between the HTrans office and the drivers out in the field.
At times, drivers can face frustrations and challenges related to traffic, scheduling, equipment, and weather. In the words of one nominator, Mia has developed excellent relationships with our Driver Team, and has demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively with confidence.
“Mia shows the patience and compassion that Drivers respond to,” noted another nominator.
The winter months can often be among the most challenging for professional drivers and logistics coordination.
“With numerous weather delays, equipment issues, and holiday scheduling obstacles, Mia has been instrumental in making operational decisions and sharing ever-changing information between drivers, customers, HTrans, and multiple Houston’s departments,” said Steve Hall, Fleet Manager.
Mia’s acumen, knowledge, and skills have also made her a valued resource for numerous Houston’s people outside of HTrans, as well. One nominator noted Mia’s willingness to go above and beyond to be helpful.
“She is still a go-to for many departments,” the nominator said. “She willing to offer assistance to everyone. Although she has plenty to keep her busy at HTrans, she carries a strong desire to see the entire company do well.”
Mia’s team-first attitude is a banner example of taking Houston’s Core Values to heart.
“Undoubtedly Mia operates with integrity,” Steve said. “Mia is a long-tenured employee who is not only experienced and skilled, but she also brings energy and passion towards helping others and seeing Houston’s & HTrans succeed.”
It is evident that she is invested in the people she works with and the company she represents.
Outside of work Mia has been described as a true football fan. She has Southern California roots and enjoys the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL – she can often be seen representing her Rams gear around the office and for company events like Spirit Week.
Congratulations, Mia – this recognition is well-deserved!
