Jose Samuel Vazquez (Sam) has been working at Houston’s for three years and says he still loves learning how to accomplish different tasks and spending time to help train new employees. We’re so glad to have our newest Employee of the Month giving pointers to the newest members of the Houston’s family.

Knowing about his drive to gather and share knowledge with fellow employees, it’s not surprising that Sam earned this most recent honor. Speaking with his supervisor further illuminates how much he deserves this award. “Sam is a pleasure to work with. He always has a positive attitude and helps out wherever he is needed. He knows practically every task in the warehouse, so I can rely on him to help out in a number of areas. He is a consistent top puller, and works hard at whatever task he is doing. He is a VIP to the swing shift and to Houston’s!”

At home, Sam likes to lay back and play some video games with his kids (when he’s not playing Call of Duty on his own). He says that playing games like Fortnite, Mario Kart, and Minecraft has prompted his young daughter to ask for her own Nintendo Switch for Christmas.

What is something you’re really excited for?

I just want a healthy year for my family.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

There’s a Chinese restaurant in western Oregon where my wife used to study. I’d have to go with that place.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Michoacan, Mexico. The food there is just too good.

What’s the best way to start a day?

Coffee! I like a good cup of Colombian coffee with some milk.

Have you recently watched any good movies or shows?

I like zombie movies. I’ve been mostly watching Z Nation and The Walking Dead.
