Cindy Sanford, Employee of the Quarter

Please join us in congratulating Cindy Sanford, our 2nd Quarter Employee of the Quarter! “Cindy was chosen as Employee of the Quarter for her willingness to go above and beyond her everyday tasks as a receptionist, to lend a hand to whomever she can help.  Cindy’s catch phrases are:  ‘Anything I can do to help?’, ‘Let me know how I can help?’, ‘Yep, Yep, Yep.’, ‘Have a great day!’, and ‘Fantastic!!’ She radiates enthusiasm in all that she does whether it is working with a teammate, greeting a customer, or learning something new.  She is a welcoming presence at the front desk!  The reception area is always decorated with festive ornamentation and embellishments that Cindy provides from her own treasure trove of interior design.  She also makes available cookies and candy at the front desk,” praised Annette Kramer, Admin Manager.

When you walk into the building you can always count on being greeted with a smile if Cindy is at the front desk. Cindy loves to welcome everyone when they come in and see what she can do to make their day.

Cindy joined Houston’s in February of 2015 working in both Returns and Accounts Receivable before transitioning into her current role as receptionist, carrying with her a wealth of information. Working in other departments has allowed Cindy to gain a wide variety of knowledge that makes it possible for her to help out where it is needed. No matter what department you find Cindy assisting, you’ll be greeted with a smile and know that Cindy’s always glad to help!

When she’s not at work, Cindy enjoys spending time with her husband, three kids, and four grandkids. She also likes sewing and working in the yard with her husband. The outside home project she had the most fun with occurred last summer when they put concrete stones in their backyard to create a terrace in the yard. This made a nice sitting area where they can relax and enjoy their fire pit.

One thing you may not know about Cindy is she used to work for the post office for 11 years but was never officially an employee. She worked a variety of jobs while there, a janitorial position, a rural carrier driver, and then later she look a job as a clerk. She was never an official employee because they kept rehiring her as a temp since there was preferential treatment given at the time to military and past government employees when full time positions were available. Cindy later left the post office because of the long hours and to spend more time with her kids.

Congratulations on being selected as Employee of the Quarter! And thank you for all you do for Houston’s! Some may have noticed all the new seasonal decorations in the front lobby in Portland, that is all thanks to Cindy. She really takes joy in keeping our lobby looking festive! Though she warns you, if you don’t want to see just Seahawks decorations during football season to bring in some of your team decorations and she’ll add them in!
