Department: Merchandising

Schedule:

  • Reno, NV: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, 30-36 hours per week $21.00/hr

Purpose:

Houston’s Inc. is looking for helpful, energetic Merchandisers to join our team! This always moving, always on your feet position is responsible for merchandising products with our customer’s foodservice warehouse-format style stores.

Duties:

  • Service accounts during designated times established by management
  • Provide exceptional customer service and work closely with personnel
  • Responsible for appearance and cleanliness of accounts
  • Maintain product on store shelves by ensuring appropriate inventory levels and proper product rotation
  • Transport product from backroom to display floor with manual equipment such as pallet jack or flat cart
  • Audit packing list, report discrepancies and return damaged or defective products
  • Build and maintain promotional displays
  • Use hand held devices to input/submit orders
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid government-issued identification
  • Ability to operate under minimal supervision
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance  

Experience:

  • Merchandising or equivalent work experience preferred

Physical:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: 

  • Lift, load, push and pull products weighing upwards of 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds

Human Resources Manager

Department:

Purpose:

The Human Resources Manager supports the company through accountability for maintaining all human resources programs, policies, compliance, and payroll activities. This position also provides key support in maintaining positive employee relationships and advancing the company’s core values and mission.

Duties:

•    Manages a Human Resource department staff of two employees. Provides daily direction related to departmental efforts in staffing, training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety and other functional areas
•    Works closely with Accounting to backup all company payroll functions
•    Ensures legal compliance of the company by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, representing the organization at hearings
•    Manages the recruitment process; coaches management through interview and candidate selection. Monitors and recommends pay scale adjustments when necessary. Updates job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
•    Regularly trains and advises managers in coaching and disciplinary matters.
•    Guides employee relations efforts, hearing and resolving employee grievances with both compassion and legal compliance to support positive employee relations.
•    Works closely with all managers and staff to support and enhance company core values from the inside out.
•    Maintains employee benefits programs. Studies and assesses benefit needs and trends. Recommends benefit programs and changes to management. Oversees annual benefit open enrollment process.
•    Ensures that all work-related injuries are reported and recorded appropriately and timely. Oversees injured worker’s return to work program.
•    Contributes to and assists the Safety Team and Employee Event Committee.

•    Maintains company handbook. Prepares, updates, and recommends all human resource policies and procedures.
•    Stays up-to-date on relevant professional and technical knowledge.
•    Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

•    Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred
•    Well-versed in hiring, performance management techniques, compensation and wage structures
•    Experience in payroll administration and benefits administration
•    Strong knowledge of employment law and legal compliance
•    High level of organization
•    Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
•    Adaptability

Experience:

•    Bachelor’s Degree and/or PHR certification

The position is responsible for maturing the overall L2/L3 IT systems software space as well as server hardware and network administration.

Duties:

Functions or Duties:
Systems Design and Development
•    Work closely with IT Manager, IT Director and external vendors to research, design and implement right-sized technology solutions.
•    Develop, deploy, and manage IT systems, platforms, and applications, ensuring an efficient technology environment is provided to internal and external stakeholders.
•    Configure, manage, and maintain Houston’s MS 365 environment.
•    Serve as an enabling technology consultant for internal and external project teams.
•    Further develop tools and processes to monitor and manage IT system availability and performance.
•    Strongly contribute to data, compliance, and security risk assessments.
•    Own the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) infrastructure, planning and testing.
•    Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Houston’s business processes along with how technology is used or can be used to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Systems Administration and Operations
•    Execute tasks in response to L2/L3 tickets for advanced to complex activities and provide escalation support for IT Help Desk.
•    Oversee the maintenance of server and storage systems. 
•    Create/configure/maintain network subnets, vlan, etc.
•    Failover of systems and hardware to remote off-site mirrored location.
•    Analyze business needs; partner with leaders across the organization to research and recommend solutions which balance business need and risk mitigation.
•    Define, build, and review reports on server/storage performance and event anomalies; ensure internal adjustments are made and substantial gaps documented and elevated to management.
•    Develop and maintain appropriate technology documentation, including current design and operation.
Standards and Policies
•    Author and serve as subject matter expert to define requirements and standards for both the infrastructure and systems software selection and deployment.
•    Monitor and continually review existing systems to ensure they are designed to comply with established standards and to empower business operations.
•    Assist with the development and management of security policies and systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and intrusion prevention devices.
•    Ownership of the network policies and systems, such as switches, routers, wide area networks, and local area networks.
•    Lead the planning for and support of disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
Vendor Management
•    Conduct product and vendor research, and present recommendations to management.
•    Primary Point of Contact with vendors and related equipment suppliers, including installation and repair of services.
•    Track service contracts and service tickets; monitor adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs); escalate issues as needed.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge:

Expert knowledge in some or all the following areas:

•    Major computer hardware and storage gear
•    Virtual servers such as VMware, Proxmox, several types of Linux
•    Application virtualization technologies, such as Proxmox / VMware DSXi
•    Microsoft and Linux server and desktop operating systems, including installation, tuning, and management
•    Microsoft core services, such as Active Directory and Exchange
•    Backup and data protection solutions
•    Troubleshooting of system performance issues and root cause
•    Monitoring systems and best practices
•    Principles of system design and best practices

We deliver to wholesale businesses with primarily dock stops and limited touching of freight utilizing newer power units. Some routes require overnight stays.

Janitor

Schedule:

Full-time: 40 hours per week

Duties:

  • Perform general janitorial duties such cleaning and sanitizing work areas, breakrooms and bathrooms, vacuuming and dusting office areas, mopping, disinfecting, flooring waxing.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies.
  • Basic maintenance duties including but not limited to occasional pallet repairing, building office furniture, painting, basic trouble shooting, general yard maintenance such mowing, weeding, pruning, snow removal, leaf blowing.
  • Product recovery: cleaning, sanitizing, and repackaging.
  • Perform recycling activities: collect, separate, and recycle cardboard, paper and plastic wrap.
  • Perform other basic warehouse functions by assisting with receiving, shipping, packaging, assembling, labeling etc.
  • Limited operation of powered industrial equipment with occasional supervision.
  • Continual use of manual pallet jacks while cleaning under pick locations.
  • Maintains a clean work area and follows all safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
