Mari Stetson, Employee of the Quarter

Mariaelena (Mari) Stetson started with Houston’s in October of 2016, working in the Accounting Department as an Assistant Financial Analyst. She enjoys and embraces the challenges that come with her job, and in doing so has earned her Employee of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2017!

“Mari is very organized and precise with any task that she is given,” praised Melissa Anderson, Director of Programs and Pricing. “She has been with Houston’s for a year. In that time, she has pulled in independently processing rebates and customer programs, communicates with both manufacturer’s and customers, works closely with the Merchandising Team to implement and document promotions and price changes, crossed trained with AP and some Returns and is assisting with an AR project. Plus she is humorous and generous in spirit. I personally wouldn’t be able to live without her!”

Outside of work, Mari enjoys staying in shape by running and also enjoys spending time with her family. Mari and her mother recently participated in the Race for the Cure, a 5k run/walk in support of breast cancer awareness. This event was particularly close to Mari’s heart as her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was happy to say that they were able to cross the finish line together! Mari also has a twelve year old son that keeps her busy while away from work. She describes her son as, “Too smart for his own good,” mentioning that he can be a handful at times, but she still loves him very much.  Recently, they went on a weekend trip to the happiest place on earth – Disneyland! It was her son’s first time there, and Mari’s second. Although the park closed early, Mari said that they had a blast going on all the rides and experiencing all the magic that Disneyland has to offer.

One thing that you may not know about Mari, is that she is a huge tennis fan! As a kid she really enjoyed watching the sport and grew more and more interested until she eventually picked up a racket herself, started playing, and excelled. When she played in high school, Mari and her partner placed second in state! She says the match was very close and was one they should’ve come away with.
