It’s a Houston’s tradition to get really into Halloween. The office space gets decorated, employees dress up, and we typically all gather together to make this holiday spooktacular. Because it’s 2020, this year was a little different, but we still found ways to celebrate our appreciation for this holiday and each other.

We just can’t say enough about the effort everyone puts in to make Houston’s Halloweens a defrightful occasion, so we’ll let these photos do the talking. Here are some of the fantastic participants in this year’s Houston’s Halloween Costume Contest!

Our Purchasing team entered the competition with their group costume comprising of a cow, a monkey, a deer, and a witch, showing that she needs to call on all manner of animal companions to make her Halloween party a success.

This year, Admin donned caps and gowns to show just how terrifyingly powerful an education can be. These graduates were so overwhelmed with tradition that they even threw their caps into the air on the spot!

IT Manager Jordy is preparing for a routine procedure. Remote Marketing Assistant Lauren is currently interning with Jurassic park, wrangling one of their critters. Marketing Manager Tiffany is proving that unicorns actually do exist.

National Sales Manager Jarrod won’t let any tough stains last in his house (he’s Mr. Clean). Remote Foodservice Specialist Schantalle is digging deep beneath the landslide to find her inner Stevie Nicks.

Marketing Lead Jordan showed up as Link, the Hero of Time. And Houston’s President Rebecca Phillips is channeling her powers as a sorceress for a great photo (the camera was having a tough time focusing past her aura, but we eventually got it).

This year saw many creative costumes, including Harambe the Gorilla (Hendrik Tammekivi), Fred Flintstone (Gary Lass), Jason (Shawn Jolly), Super Man (Jarrod Bowren), and a Care Bear (Geoff Dann), just to name a few.

Jennifer and Rebecca voted for a winner from each warehouse location, and one from the Wilsonville office. Winners went above and beyond the typical costumes–Rosa Garibay (Wilsonville warehouse) was dressed as the Disney Villain Maleficent, complete with horns atop her head.  Brenda Willet (Kansas City warehouse) was decked head to toe in camo and very zombie-like makeup.  The icing on the metaphorical cake, however, was the commitment to teamwork exhibited by our Purchasing Department: the hilarious group of Super Troopers, based on the 2001 comedy, would not have been complete without the maple syrup in hand and the fake mustaches worn by all.
